Description
Farmgate Stockfeeds began life in 1993 after Managing Director Mathew Logan took a voluntary redundancy from his job with Telecom. Mathew used his redundancy as a deposit on his first truck and used it to supply whole grain to the family farm and his surrounding neighbours. Office Manager Tammi Logan came on to the scene in early 1994, often assisting in the business by carting the auger around on her days off. The operation continued in this vein until customer demand required the beginnings of a crushed grain service. Mathew set up a roller mill in the shed to crush the product as a variety of grains and additives were then required, silos were installed on the site to store the products. In 2001 Mathew and Tammi employed their first staff member Paul Anderson, who is still with them now. In 2003 a shed was built and the stockfeed mill was officially underway. Farmgate Stockfeeds became Feedsafe Accredited in 2005 and today employs 14 local people. Farmgate now services the entire southwest region of Victoria, providing primarily the dairy industry with the feed products they need for healthy herds and strong, growing businesses.
