Lunched
Lunched on Wednesday, main dining room was freezing and an open fire blazed in a small front room which could only seat 6-7. Many wines on the list were unavailable and very pricey for a local pub. No house wines available unfortunately. Food in the lounge priced mid range ($18 - $28) but certainly not a gastro pub, all the usuals, ( battered fish, parma, steak, kiev, sausage of the day???, 2 pasta dishes and a pork belly with mash. There are bar meals available, steak sanga, schnitzel etc. Our order went in second (fish/chips & salad & parma/veg) and the wait was 40 mins. The veg was very disappointing, more a vegetable stew and parma over cooked & luke warm. Fish was cooked perfectly & the salad was fresh with a tasty tangy dressing. Unfortunately the Tartare sauce was inedible as it seemed to consist mainly of salt (the chef/cook needs to taste.) This Hotel has plenty of room for improvment but is in need of more experienced staff. Had to ask for the table to be cleaned, cutlery & salt/pepper. Received the wrong bottle of wine (already opened) but was replaced when asked. Overall rating 6/10
