DonateLife SA was formed in 1996 to coordinate all organ and tissue donor activities across the state. It was previously known as the South Australian Organ Donation Agency (SAODA). It is also part of the national DonateLife (opens in a new window) network linked in to the Australian Organ and Tissue Authority (AOTA). DonateLife SA's clinical staff include Donation Specialist Nursing Coordinators (DSNCs). They work with Donation Medical Specialists, nurses and transplant unit staff at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre, the Women's and Children's Hospital, Lyell McEwin Hospital and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. DonateLife SA encourages all South Australian families to make an informed decision about becoming an organ and tissue donor, to register their decision on the Australian Organ Donor Register (opens in a new window) and to discuss and know each other's wishes.
